Q&A: What Model Is Shroud’s Mouse?

TL;DR Version: If you don't want to read the entire article, the correct model for Shroud mouse is Logitech's G303. Unfortunately, the G303 has been discontinued and replaced with Logitech's G Pro Gaming FPS mouse which has the same specs.

With eSports having become such a large industry, it is important to remember the roots that brought it here. One prominent title that paved the way for mainstream eSports is Counter-Strike. While still played on the competitive level, CS has developed a cult-like following and made superstars out of pro players and streamers like Shroud.

Who is Shroud?

Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek is a 24-year-old Polish-Canadian Twitch streamer who has 6.4M followers on Twitch with over 310M lifetime views on the platform.

Shroud previously was a professional Counter-Strike player being on the roster of Cloud9 from August 2014 to August 2017 when he stepped down to chase his dreams of being a full-time streamer.

Since Shroud has switched to being a full-time streamer, he has spent the vast majority of his 6,000+ hours streaming playing battle royale titles including PUBG, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Apex Legends and Fortnite.

HyperX currently sponsors shroud, but he previously was sponsored by Logitech while on Cloud9, so that is likely where his choice for a gaming mouse originated and stuck with to this day.

What Mouse Does Shroud Use?

As stated in the previous section, Shroud was used to Logitech mice back from his CS days playing for Cloud9. Since switching to streaming full-time, Shroud has stuck to using a Logitech G303 which unfortunately is a discontinued model. To replace the G303, Logitech released their G Pro Gaming FPS mouse which uses the same sensor and a similar form-factor.

As of right now, you can still buy a G303 on Amazon through third-party sellers for an insane mark-up or pre-owned on eBay. However, these are often not worth the hassle and you are better off buying a new Logitech G Pro Gaming FPS mouse or their G903 mouse which is one of our favorite gaming mice currently on the market.

Some of you may be wondering why Shroud hasn't upgraded into a newer version of Logitech's gaming mice or some other brand. Here is the Twitch streamer's thoughts and discussion on gaming mice and why he hasn't switched to a newer mouse:

What Are The Features & Specifications Of Shroud’s Mouse?

The Logitech G303 mouse that Shroud uses for gaming daily is pretty standard for today's world of peripherals. Internally, the G303 packs an “advanced optical sensor” with “Delta Zero sensor technology” which is said to translate hand movements to on-screen targets better.

There is built-in RGB lighting allowing you to customize the color of the mouse to your designed preference of system colors. This mouse is lightweight and durable enough to withstand 20 million clicks. The DPI can be switched on-the-fly with up to 5 DPI settings ranging as low as 200 up to as high as 12,000.

Designed for a right-handed gamer (don't worry lefties, we've got you covered), the G303 has two side buttons and four clickable mouse buttons on the top of the mouse. With a unique shape, the G303 has raised edges on the sides of the mouse to add texture for improved grip.

While the G Pro FPS model that Logitech replaced the G303 with looks different in terms of the mouse shape, it is far cheaper given the premium of the G303's limited availability and utilizes virtually identical specifications (six buttons, same sensor, same DPI range, etc.).
