Canon has been making some of the best cameras for decades, and their latest model is no exception. Canon's R5 camera is built with many competitive features that make this a stellar camera for photographers and videographers alike.
The camera captures still images at 45MP and a whopping 8K video resulting in phenomenal image quality. While it may be tempting to buy a new mirrorless camera such as this, you'll often save a significant sum of money if you buy a used Canon EOS R5 camera instead.
Here are 10 places where we found a great deal on a refurbished or used Canon R5 Camera:

1) Canon USA (Refurbished)
As you'd expect, Canon's official USA online retail store is a good potential place to find a used or refurbished Canon R5 camera. They offer what is referred to as a refurbished Canon R5 digital SLR with the standard one-year Canon USA warranty to cover you from any defects.
While I really like this option, the used or refurbished pricing is still a good discount and offers the best inventory of refurbished R5s, but you'll often get better pricing through other retailers or marketplaces like eBay if you catch a good deal on a pre-owned body at the right time.
2) eBay
eBay is the perfect place to find a great deal on a used Canon R5 camera. If you have an account, it's easy to find exactly what you're looking for in minutes. We found several sellers offering used Canon EOS R5 cameras for well under the MSRP of $3,899 which means you'll have more money to put towards lenses, memory cards, and other accessories.
Due to the large userbase of eBay, you'll likely find the largest selection of used Canon R5s anywhere on the web. The only downside is the pricing may be on the higher side as eBay's seller fees tend to be higher than most. eBay also provides payment protection when buying through their site, so you won't have any worries about fraud or being scammed.
3) Amazon (Used)
Amazon also often offers a selection of used and refurbished Canon R5 cameras through their third-party sellers. With some of these sellers, you'll even get the coveted free 2-day Prime shipping that Amazon is well-known for meaning you'll get this Canon camera in your hands sooner.
While there are several used R5 mirrorless cameras being offered by third-party Amazon sellers at the time of which I wrote this article, most of them aren't the best deal as pricing is on the high side being close or in some weird cases even higher than Canon's MSRP pricing. Like anything used, timing is everything as the best deals on used Canon R5 mirrorless cameras through Amazon will be scooped up quickly!
4) B&H Photo (Used)
One of my favorite places to buy new and used camera gear is B&H Photo, a mega photo retailer based in NYC. Over the years, I've purchased dozens of cameras, lenses, tripods, and other related accessories from them with tremendous success on the quality and reliability of the used gear.
Their selection of used Canon DSLR or mirrorless cameras are plentiful and depending on the timing that you may be able to score a used Canon EOS R5 mirrorless digital camera at a significant discount due to being gently used. B&H used to have the benefit of not offering sales tax (outside of NY) thus making for even more of a discount, but that has been changed in recent years, unfortunately.
5) KEH Camera
KEH Camera is a unique retailer as they ONLY sell used, pre-owned, and refurbished cameras, lenses, and accessories so they have a ton of experience in this market and a great reputation. Their selection of used Canon R5s has been plentiful, but the pricing is a bit too high in most cases.
They have been in business since 1979 and have a phenomenal reputation with a robust item inspection and grading system to not deceive their buyers. They offer free shipping for any orders of $49 and also a 180-day warranty on most of their used products as long as the grade is on the higher end of the condition scale.
6) Adorama (Used)
Similar to B&H Photo, Adorama is another popular choice among photographers and videographers alike. They also offer an extensive used gear section where you can find many great deals on open-box or used Canon R5 cameras from time to time.
They offer free two-day shipping if you are part of their VIP360 membership which runs $49.99 per year and they also offer 5% off all orders with their Adorama Edge Credit Card which can add up to some killer savings on something expensive like a Canon mirrorless camera.
7) Samy's Camera (Used)
While I've never ordered from Samy's Camera myself, they're a favorite among photographers and videographers alike. Their selection of used Canon cameras across all models fluctuates on a daily basis so it will be hit or miss as to whether or not they offer any pre-owned R5s in stock.
Samy's offers a 30-day moneyback guarantee that covers everything (including shipping) and each used camera that they list includes a full year warranty against defects, so there is some peace of mind knowing you're covered if something isn't as it should be.
8) Facebook Marketplace
Over the last few years, the Facebook marketplace has become a really popular place for users to get rid of their old or unused stuff as it has a solid reach without any fees. While there are some risks and due diligence required before meeting someone in person or trusting them to actually ship your EOS R5 camera to you through the mail, it can be a place to score a killer deal.
Depending on your location, the availability of a used R5 mirrorless digital camera posted on Facebook Marketplace will vary. For highly dense locations like major metropolitan areas, there is likely a higher chance of finding one than others. Pricing will vary greatly depending on the knowledge of the seller and the condition of the item.
9) OfferUp
A semi-popular mobile application and online marketplace, Offerup is similar to Facebook Marketplace but and the used inventory may be scarce in areas that are not as densely populated. They recently acquired a rival mobile marketplace, LetGo which increased the user base of OfferUp considerably.
As with Facebook Marketplace, you'll need to exercise some caution when conducting transactions on Offerup. There is no built-in payment method like there is with Paypal or Venmo, but rather the expectation that you'll use cash or payments applications for purchases made through the app which may reduce your risk of anything going wrong by default.
10) Craigslist
Known as the original and likely most popular online classifieds marketplace ever, Craigslist does have listings for used Canon EOS R5 cameras from time to time so be sure to check it regularly if you're wanting one.
My main issue with Craigslist is the fact that the majority of Craigslist users are completely anonymous, both locally and on a national scale so dangerous situations or scams are present. Like Facebook Marketplace, you'll have to do some diligence to ensure that the Craigslist poster is legitimate before actually meeting up with them to buy a Canon EOS R5 or send them any payment.
How To Automate Monitoring Of Used Canon R5 Inventory
Now that you've discovered the various online resources, the tough part comes in and that is how to stay on top of the rapidly moving market of refurbished or used Canon EOS R5 mirrorless camera models.
On popular online marketplaces like eBay and Facebook Marketplace, you can set up free alerts for you to be notified when new listings appear that fit your criteria. This allows you to stay on top of the new listings and attempt to scoop up a deal before other prospective buyers.
While you can manually search for the used inventory on sites like B&H, Adorama, KEH, or the various others daily, there is a way to automate this if you'd like to save some time and add convenience without missing a deal.
Automate Used Inventory Scanning Via Hexowatch Platform
One of the ways that I've been able to score great used deals from B&H Photo and Adorama in the past without having to manually search through their used inventory that changes day to day is through an automated tool called Hexowatch.
Hexowatch allows you to monitor any web page in a multitude of different ways and then receive notifications via email, Slack, or other means when a change is made on the tracked webpage that fits your given criteria. You can track things like specific HTML elements, visual changes, and more with lots of customizable and different interval checking settings.
In my case, I've simply monitored the search result pages within the used section of B&H and Adorama's websites for ‘Canon R5' and have already been notified several times when a used deal pops up for sale. The catch is they usually offload this inventory in mere minutes so you need to act quickly.
Hexowatch does offer a free plan with some severe monitoring limitations and only 75 checks a month, but the premium plans unlock more functionality starting at just $14.99 a month.
