The Easiest Way To Capture Screenshots On Mac OS X

Want to take a screenshot on your Mac computer? Don't worry it is much easier than you think!

Option #1  – Take full screen capture & save images to desktop

hold down “command+shift+3” simultaneously

If you are looking to take a full screen capture of your current screen then you want to simultaneously hold “command+shift+3” and if done correctly you will hear a camera noise. You will find the files automatically saved to your desktop. Keep in mind if you have multiple displays connected it will capture each display individually into separate image files.

Option #2  – Select area to capture & save images to desktop

hold down “command+shift+4” simultaneously

If you only want to capture a part of your current screen you will want to simultaneously hold down “command+shift+4” which will then turn your cursor into a cross and give you the ability to drag box in the desired capture area. After the box is drawn to your liking, left go of the mouse and it will capture it. Whatever is inside this box will be shown in the final result. Just like option #1, this will automatically save the screenshot to your desktop.

Option #2  – Select area to capture & save images to desktop

hold down “command+shift+4” then click the spacebar simultaneously

If you only want to capture a single window your current screen you will want to simultaneously hold down “command+shift+4” then while still holding down those three hit the space button. If done correctly the cross should turn into a camera icon and will highlight whatever window you are currently hovered over. You can move this camera icon around and when your finally ready to capture the window you want click the mouse button and it will take a screenshot. This option will also automatically save the screenshot to your Mac desktop. Keep in mind this will include your browser menu bars in the final result. You will likely want to use option #2 if you are trying to screenshot a browser window without including the unnecessary aspects like the top toolbar.
