While sites like Amazon often offer great discounts on items from your traditional brick-and-mortar retailer, the significant savings that you can score on eBay for slightly used items is always an appealing avenue especially for those on a budget. The trouble with eBay is that often times these auctions can only be running as short at a 24-hour period meaning that you have to run a search regularly for your desired item to try and score a deal while the auction is still in progress which can be time-consuming and obnoxious to try to keep up with.
Fortunately, thanks to the free service IFTTT (If This Then That), you can setup email notifications based on a targeted keyword to make sure you do not miss out on any new listings that may suit your needs. In this article, I’m going to run you through how you set up these email notifications and start receiving real-time updates for new listings that contain your desired product keyword!
Step #1 – Sign Up For An IFTTT account using the desired email for receiving notifications
Step #2 – Once logged in, navigate to this recipe page
Step #3 – Enter in your desired keyword(s), max price (optional), and edit the email title/body (optional, I leave it as default)
Step #4 – When finished, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the ‘Add’ button
At this point, your recipe has been saved, and you’ll begin getting email notifications (see example below) when items matching your keyword and pricing cap are added to eBay:
Keep in mind, you can make changes or disable these notifications at any time within the ‘My Recipes’ page of your IFTTT account. If you wish to set up notifications for several keywords, you’ll need to configure multiple recipes each with their own keyword to be running simultaneously.
