The Windows operating system does not come standard with nearly as impressive of a built-in screenshot utility like the Mac OS X does. Don't worry, this is not an issue as there are many free screenshot utilities available for Windows users you just need to find them. The freeware that I have had the best experience using for taking screenshots is called Greenshot.
Greenshot is absolutely free to use and is compatible with virtually any machine running Windows. Once installed the program remains easy on your PC's resources so it won't slow down your computer's performance or give you any problems.
With Greenshot you are able to easily take screenshots of a selected region, a particular window, or a fullscreen shot. You can even capture complete (scrolling) web pages if you so desire. Using the built-in tools you can also annotate, highlight or obfuscate parts of the screenshot without having to resort to using another image editing program.
Lastly, you have the ability to export the screenshot in various ways. These include save to file, send to printer, copy to clipboard, attach to e-mail, send Office programs or upload to photo sites like Flickr or Picasa.
Using Greenshot can boost your productivity and save you valuable time. We all know time is money so there's no reason not to give Greenshot a try and see how it works for you!
Feel free to leave your own experiences with Greenshot or another Windows freeware program to simplify the screentaking process in the comments below.
