‘YouTube TV’ Is Google’s Entry Into The Live TV Streaming Market

At this point in the market, there are many TV streaming services to chose from including DirecTV Now, Sling TV and PlayStation Vue.

The service has only been announced as of today and will operate as its own app released later in the year, running completely independent of YouTube's premium Red subscription.

Priced at $35, the service caters to YouTube users who access to some of the best in content from TV networks without the baggage or high cost of a traditional cable subscription.

The 30 channel line-up includes many popular options yet lacks the depth of some of the higher-end packages offered within competing services.

Notable channels included in the base service package :

  • ABC
  • CBS
  • FOX
  • E!
  • ESPN
  • The CW
  • Bravo
  • Disney Channel

There will be sports and premium content (Showtime) add-ons available as well, but pricing for these have not been announced yet.

Advanced features that are due at launch is a cloud DVR option (unlimited storage space), an AI recommendation system and scalable services allowing up to six users streaming simultaneously per account.
