Windows 8.1 Released To Manufacturers Ahead Of October 18th Launch

Windows 8.1 has been buzzing around the tech community for quite some time, but its official release date has still been in the distance with a scheduled launch on October 18th. Microsoft has decided to jump the gun on 8.1 and has finalized an official Windows 8.1 version for manufacturer's use. This has surprised many as most expected Microsoft to use the next month and a half to finalize all the bugs and continue to improve the software. This update will be free to download for current owners of a Windows 8 license, but those who are looking to buy a license for Windows 8.1 will need to wait until October 18th to get their hands on it.
