Microsoft has been working on improving their backward compatibility for their Xbox One console over the past few months and today the company has announced their plans to offer The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for free download on Xbox One in select regions until February 5th.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the title, Assassins of Kings is the second installment in the Witcher franchise and the predecessor to the most recent title, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which has won dozens of awards and has a 91/100 average rating on Metacritic.
Assassins of Kings originally debuted on previous generation consoles in May of 2011 and sold over 8 million copies in the coming years. Thanks to the backwards compatibility support for Xbox One, Microsoft has successfully ported the 360 version to the Xbox One, and those eligible for a free digital download can now take advantage by visiting this link.
