When Naughty Dog released the first installment in The Last of Us series back in 2013, it quickly received rave reviews and became a favorite among the gaming scene. While it was released exclusively on Sony's gaming consoles, it still sold 1.3M units in the first week and to date has sold in excess of 8M copies making it one of the most successful releases on the PlayStation consoles.
Since then, Naughty Dog has been rather quiet about releasing a sequel despite an overwhelming demand from gamers. Fortunately, Sony ended their PlayStation Experience keynote today with an unexpected teaser trailer confirming the upcoming release of The Last of Us: Part II:
While the trailer is brief and doesn't offer much information about the sequel, the beautiful cinematics and reintroduction of familiar characters, Joel and Ellie (who have aged considerably since the original), make us full of excitement as to what may be in store.
No official release date has been provided yet, stay tuned for more information as it is released.
