The popular fitness-tracking app Strava has added some new benefits for their Premium subscription including accidental damage coverage to phones or GPS devices that are damaged while recording cycling activity with Strava. This perk is offered in conjunction with Sunday's Insurance and available for Premium members located in the US, UK, and Australia.
Regarding the fine print, it isn't the best coverage as the insurance only kicks in if your device is broken during “a bicycle impact or crash in which your bicycle is sufficiently damaged to be non-functioning without repairs and/or you need medical treatment.” Along with the stiff coverage, you'll be due for an $85 deductible should you need to rely on the insurance to replace your device (up to $600 in replacement coverage) although this is still a lot less than the entire cost of a replacement device out of your own pocket.
