Straight Talk Increases Data Limits For BYOP Subscribers

The mobile market has evolved over the past few years with a significant movement away from plans with structured, long-term commitments and more towards “pay as you go” type plans. Straight Talk is one of the leading services for the no contract market thanks to their unlimited talk/text/data for a flat monthly rate of $45 per month.

While the plan states that it offers unlimited data, the truth of the matter is that you only get unlimited “high speed” data for 3GB worth then the speed jumps down to 64kbps for the remainder of the month. As of today, the service has announced an increase in high-speed data up to 5GB for those customers who are part of the bring your own phone (BYOP) program.

This means any current or future subscribers whom only purchase a SIM (not a phone) from Straight Talk will be automatically upgraded to the 5GB high-speed plan.
