Earlier today, Spotify reached an agreement with Dubset Media Holdings to include an expanded distribution within its MixBANK platform. This ultimately means DJs can upload and legally stream their own original mixes while compensating both the original artists that are being sampled in addition to the DJs that create the remixes.
The announcement was made at the International Music Summit being held in Ibiza. Within the agreement, Spotify will enable the ability to stream radio shows and user-generated content which were previously against the terms of service due to the lack of compensation/licensing for the original audio source that is being referenced.
