One of the biggest competitive advantages of Jay-Z's TIDAL music streaming service is the lossless audio quality which appeals primarily to audiophiles.
While a traditional consumer would likely stick to a more conventional streaming service like Spotify or Apple Music (and probably wouldn't notice the difference), those who are picky about their audio aren't afraid to pony up a few extra bucks to enjoy the highest streamable quality available.
Unfortunately for Tidal, this advantage will be short lived as Spotify is said to be testing a more expensive ‘Hi-Fi' subscription which would offer lossless audio for $15-$20/month. According to the speculation, this premium subscription may also include optional perks such as discounts on vinyl and concert tickets.
