If you've been following Amazon's first every ‘Prime Day' sale that is currently taking place today, you may have missed a significant secondary announcement from the company. Since entering the content market with original series like the Emmy-winning Transparent, Amazon has been seeking out other means of expansion for their production efforts.
As of this morning, the company has announced their plans for Spike Lee to produce their first-ever Amazon Original Movie dubbed Chi-Raq. The film has already finished shooting as of last week and has begun the post production process. There are a lot of familiar faces starring in the title including Nick Cannon, Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Hudson, John Cusack, Angela Bassett and Samuel L Jackson, among others.
Amazon Prime subscribers will be able to access the movie digitally through the service with a plan for a theatrical release to be eligible for Oscar considerations.
