Sony has been one of the most notable companies to innovate within the digital imaging space over the last five years, and their new RX0 model follows suit.
Priced at $700, the RX0 is designed for VR and remote camera shooting with its 1-inch sensor packing 15.3MP. The integrated lens utilizes Zeiss glass with a 24mm f/4 wide-angle lens. What sets it apart from other models is the design which is waterproof, shockproof and crushproof all while being compact enough to use in even the most complicated rigging situations.
The RX0 offers a maximum shutter speed of 1/32000 of a second and can shoot up to 16fps for stills, but its video performance is what really shines. Sporting super slow motion up to 960fps (240 fps at FHD 1080P), 4K out via HDMI and S-Log2, the RX0 can be a serious contender for filmmakers who are often shooting multi-camera scenes.
Availability will begin in October with the first units shipping during the month. Price-point will be $700 USD or $900 CAD with retailers like B&H are starting to accept pre-orders at 12 AM on Tuesday, September 5th.
