At CES 2017, Sling unveiled their AirTV hardware which offers cord cutters access to local channels, paid Sling TV channels and Netflix all through a single media player.
Priced at $130, the AirTV player isn't cheap especially when you can get a Chromecast, Roku Stick or Amazon Fire Stick for under $50. These sources won't provide as easy of a UI and no direct support for local channels.
To combat the steep entry price, Sling is now offering an AirTV bundle which brings the price of the hardware down to $50 as long as your prepay for three months of Sling TV (equaling at least another $60 down).
In this case, you still have to dish out $110 up-front though you'll get both the AirTV player and three months of access to Sling TV for $20 less than the regular cost of the hardware alone.
