SanDisk is arguably the most popular brand in the memory card market and their products are known for excellent speed and reliability. The company has just announced their latest flagship card, the Extreme Pro SDHC/SDXC UHS-II.
What's different about this new Extreme Pro line? It uses the all-new UHS Speed Class (U3) spec which allows continuous write speeds of up to 250MB/s and read speeds of up to 280MB/s. Since their current SD card offerings are capped at 95MB/s, this is a significant increase in speed that's suitable for power users who want to shoot 4K video or a long burst of RAW photos without experiencing any interruptions.
The cards will vary in size from 16GB to 64GB and range in price from $120 to $300 although they won't ship until April. Additionally, SanDisk is releasing a new U3 card reader for $50 which offers full 250MB/s transfer speeds when connected to a Mac or PC.
