There is a big rumor circulating now that Apple is considering the idea of offering 4.7 and 5.7-inch sized iPhones as well as a budget model that would cost only $99. This would be an interesting move coming from the technology giant, but seems justifiable considering the there are competing android devices popping up in various sizes every couple of months.
Reuters is reporting that Apple is primarily considering this change to combat Samsung's rise in the mobile market share with their Galaxy “phablets” and flooding the market with a surplus of different devices at various price points. The $99 model would be expected to be made of a plastic casing and likely lacking some of the features you'd typically see in a modern iPhone (possibly no rear camera such as in the new iPod Touch). Sources also hinted that the iPhone will be offered in multiple color options in the future, but a clarification on what colors these would be offered is unknown.
It is said that suppliers have already been approached with plans to manufacturer the larger iPhones, but a creditable source stated:
They constantly change product specifications almost to the final moment, so you're not really sure whether this is the final prototype.
Whether we will see these larger iPhones or a cheaper model in the near future is not known at this time. I'm sure the speculations will continue until there is a direct confirmation on the issue so we will just have to be patient and wait it out. Stay tuned for any developing details regarding this rumor as new information comes forward.
