Microsoft unveiled their ‘Project Spark‘ initiative back in December although it was only able to be used on machines running Windows 8.1. As of this morning, the sandbox/game creation tool has entered the beta stage for Xbox One users and anyone with access to an Xbox One can become a beta tester, free of charge.
Here's a few important things to note:
- Project Spark is not in the Xbox One store (at least not yet) so you'll have to sign up via the beta page
- Those who are already involved in the Windows 8.1 beta will be automatically enrolled in the Xbox One program
- Project Spark is running with cross-platform and cloud saving technology meaning you can switch from your Windows 8.1 device to your Xbox One and pick up from where you left off
- Microsoft has already added “Spark Tokens” in their online store which hints at a future monetization effort surrounding the innovative toolset
