Amazon Prime has increased its annual subscription cost over the past few years, yet the service has been continually increasing the membership benefits to justify the price hike. The latest benefit will be enticing for any hardcore gamers as the e-commerce giant has just announced a 20% discount on any new video game titles during their pre-order and “newly released” period.
Amazon defines “pre-order” as the period before the title is officially released and “newly released” is considered to be the two week period following the release of a game. The discount is applied automatically at checkout for eligible orders with no hoops to jump through. While new subscribers can take advantage of this benefit right away, the discount has automatically been pushed out to any existing Prime members.
The only catch is that the offer is only valid on physical copies of game titles that are shipped and sold by Amazon, so there is no discount when buying from third party sellers. I know some gamers would rather download a virtual copy of the title on their PS4 or Xbox One so they can play at midnight on the night of release, however with a 20% discount and free release day delivery, this is a strong offer to pass up.
