Back in February, Sigma announced several new models to their high-end ART lens series. The 14mm f/1.8 and 24-70mm f/2.8 were the two most anticipated of the bunch although we were stuck without the major details like pricing and release date.
Fortunately, Sigma has spilled the beans on both elements, and we have confirmation of both model's details. The Sigma 14mm f/1.8 ART will retail for $1,600 with the Canon and Sigma mounts shipping this month (Nikon Shipping in July). The Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 ART lens will ship this month for all three mount variations and will retail for a reasonable $1,300.
In comparison, Canon's 14mm f/2.8L II USM is priced at $2,100 and the Nikon equivalent is $1,900. On the other hand, Canon's 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM will run you $1,700 where Nikon's 24-70mm f/2.8E ED lens runs a hefty $2,200.
Considering Sigma's ART line has closely competed with the high-end native lenses from Canon and Nikon, potential buyers of these two lenses should be pleased to hear the good news about each model's pricing and release date.
