The two most popular case manufacturers for Apple devices are OtterBox and LifeProof so when they joined forces just a few months ago, I became excited to see what the future had in store for both companies. Otterbox has just unveiled their new Preserver Series, a line of waterproof cases for the iPhone 5/5s/5c as well as the Samsung Galaxy S4. The design is similar to LifeProof's fre iPhone 5 case thus providing full 360 degree protection including a built-in screen protector.

According to the Otterbox website, the Preserver series has the following capabilities:

  • Waterproof: fully submergible up to 6.6 ft. (2 m) for 30 minutes (IP-X8)
  • Drop proof: protects device from drops up to 6.6 ft. (2 m)
  • Dust proof: blocks entry of dust and debris particles (IP-6X)
  • Uninhibited use of all device features and functions through the case

OtterBox's CEO Brian Thomas had to say about the new Preserver Series:

“About 70 per cent of the Earth’s surface is covered in water, and technology is almost as pervasive. We take our smartphones with us everywhere, and OtterBox is dedicated to making these activities as worry-free as possible. The Preserver Series is dependable, seriously waterproof protection that you can trust.”

As of now, the only model available for purchase is the iPhone 5 version which retails for $89.95 and it is offered in four different color choices: Carbon (black), Glacier (white), Primrose (pink), and Pistacho (lime green).
