With virtual reality becoming a staple in the gaming world, two headsets have dominated the market: the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Both headsets have been praised for different reasons, with the MSRP of the Oculus Rift coming in at $599 (plus $200 for the Touch Controllers) and the HTC Vive running $799.
The difference in price has already swayed many budget-conscious gamers to lean towards the Oculus Rift, yet a temporary price drop was just announced that should further entice potential VR enthusiasts.
As part of a temporary price drop, Oculus is now selling a headset and touch controllers bundle for just $399 which is half the cost of the HTC Vive. The newly discounted price is available as of today at all retailers including Amazon and Best Buy.
While Oculus states they are running this price-drop to get more users on board for soon to be released multiplayer games, I wouldn't be surprised if they were to announced a 2nd generation Rift in the next 6-12 months.
