As the 2013 calendar year has commenced, Netflix has nothing to complain about thanks to their year-end report which showed over 44 million customers worldwide. Of this large number of subscribers, 33 million are based in the U.S. and Netflix is already projecting this number to rise to 35 million by the end of this quarter as well as a growth of 48 million worldwide. Further figures showed that Netflix still maintains over 6.9 million DVD subscribers although that part of the business has taken a back seat to their instant video streaming service.
According to the company, they will continue to experiment with the pricing of their service and plan to narrow it down to three pricing tiers that “fit everyone’s taste”. If they do decide to change up the pricing structure for new subscribers, they did make it known that existing subscribers would be grandfathered into a better pricing plan.
