After Nest had acquired Dropcam, their rebranded indoor camera line became a top selling security solution for consumers which ultimately spun into the production of an outdoor, weather-proof variant.
With more competitors such as Netgear's Arlo line coming into the market with competitive specs price points, Nest has just released their newest indoor security camera dubbed the Nest Cam IQ.
Unlike their previous indoor model, it offers the newer body design taken from their outdoor camera except the internals are revamped to include the latest and greatest specs.
Including within the new changes are an all-new 4K sensor, a 6-core processor, improved connectivity, smarter notifications and an improved speaker/microphone array. Keep in mind, while the sensor is 4K it cannot transmit a full 4K signal and instead uses smart cropping to achieve the best HD viewing with intelligent imaging.
All-in-all, the Nest Cam IQ looks to be a top contender in the home security market at least for now, but its steep $299 price-point makes for a tougher sell especially when you add in the cost of the Nest Aware subscription. This new model is now available for pre-order and Nest is offering a two-unit bundle for $498 thus saving you $100 off buying two separately at retail.
