Microsoft Unveils The Surface 2 Tablet, Available October 22nd For $449

Microsoft has made a major announcement today about their newest mobile devices. They officially unveiled the Surface 2 at a press event which appears to be a revamped version of their earlier Surface RT model.

Here are the known specifications of the new Surface 2 tablet:

  • HD 1080P ClearType Display
  • Tegra 4 chip
  • Doubled BUS speed for WiFi & RAM
  • USB 3.0 port on-board
  • New battery (25% more battery life)
  • 8.9mm thick & weights 676g
  • Improved front camera sensors (boosted low light performance)
  • Features a two-stage kickstand
  • Works with the new Touch Cover 2
  • Available in both white and black finishes
  • Includes free Skype hotspot access & 200GB of SkyDrive access for 2 years

The Surface 2 will be sold for $449 and is available in both 32GB and 64GB storage options. Pre-orders will begin taking place tomorrow morning (the 24th) at 8AM ET. Unfortunately, if your out of luck if your in a rush to get a new tablet as the devices will not begin shipping until October 22nd
