Microsoft Makes Effort To Salvage ‘Halo: MCC’ Disappointment With Free Stuff

If you follow the gaming scene, you already know last month's release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection was a train wreck to say the least. Gamers were met with disappointment as the highly anticipated title was filled with campaign bugs and a whole slew of multiplayer issues ranging from fundamental connection issues to constant rank resets.

Microsoft and 343 Studios have come together to reward the following anyone who attempted to play Halo: MCC between 11/11/14 and 12/19/14:

  • 1 Month of Xbox Live Gold
  • Exclusive In-Game Nameplate
  • Exclusive In-Game Avatar
  • Halo 3: ODST Campaign – remastered at 1080p running 60fps

While this won't completely make up for the disappointment and frustration experienced throughout the first month of launch, it is surely a start to salvage the reputation of 343 Industries. Last month, many gamers swore on social media that they would never buy one of their games ever again.

Along with these freebies, 343 plans to add back SWAT and Halo: CE playlists back to matchmaking in the near future as well as release a new Halo 2: Anniversary version of the multiplayer map ‘Relic' which will be fully remastered, running at 1080P at 60fps. They chose this map (I would have personally preferred Midship) “based on its suitability for Slayer and Objective modes and its ability to support teams of varying sizes”.
