Sony's new Playstation 4 will not be released in the U.S. until Friday, November 15th, yet retailers are already preparing for the influx of consumers who are looking to purchase the new console and its accessories. Target in particular is rumored to be offering a “buy 2, get 1 free” promotion on brand new PS4 titles as shown via a print advertisement that has leaked on Reddit.
The ad depicts Target's promotions running for the week of November 10-16th and showcases 7 titles that will be eligible for the promotion and “more in stores”. The fine print states that anyone looking to take advantage of this deal must purchase 3 different titles which means you and two friends can't go buy 2 copies of Battlefield 4 title in order to get a third BF4 free thus lowering the price for all.
The 7 titles shown on the advertisement include:
- Battlefield 4
- FIFA 14
- Killzone: ShadowFall
- Madden 25
- NBA 2K14
- Assassins Creed: Black Flag
Another interesting aspect to the leaked Target advertisement is the “available” date at the bottom of the 7 titles. Despite the PS4 console's release being on Friday (November 15th), you'll be able to walk into a Target on Tuesday (November 12th) and purchase Madden 25, FIFA 14, Assassins Creed: Black Flag, or Battlefield 4 for the PS4. To most it probably seems a bit odd buying the games before you are even eligible to buy the console although this has been happening with the new DualShock 4 controllers for a few weeks now so it seems to have become a common trend for retailers.
