Taking on the big names like Spotify and Apple Music in the streaming market is no easy feat yet somehow Tidal has outlived many expectations and even announced their milestone of 1 million subscribers yesterday. A pretty impressive for a service that will celebrate its first year of business at the end of this month.
Jay-Z took to Twitter yesterday to announce the milestone of his company as well as announce a charity concert that Tidal will be hosting at the Barclay's Center on October 20th to commemorate thank everyone for their support.
"Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists" Tidal is platinum. 1,000,000 people and counting. Let's celebrate 10/20 Brooklyn.

While 1 million subscribers is by no way the majority of the market share in the space, it is reasonably impressive considering its infancy. For comparison sake, Spotify has been around since 2008 and has 15M subscribers while Rhapsody has been around 2001 and only has 3M paying customers.
