With the popular video sharing Vine app exploding in growth, older players in the game such as Instagram are looking to adapt to stay relevant. A few days back, Facebook sent out private invitations to a select few inviting them to a new product launch event on June 20th. The details of what product was going to be announced at this product launch were not discussed which left many of us puzzled about what Facebook had up their sleeve especially after their last event unveiled ‘Facebook Home‘.
TechCrunch has come out with a report stating that Facebook will be launching video capabilities to the Instagram app, which will then go head-to-head with Vine. Other reports are hinting that the integration will allow users to capture videos between 5 and 10 seconds long (Vine videos are only 6 seconds long) with no word on whether Instagram-like filters will be included for video use. Stay tuned as the battle between Twitter and Facebook is as fierce as ever, only time will tell who is the victor.
