Thanks to the release of major next-gen consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One, 2013 was truly a historic year for the video game industry. Holding the title of the best-selling game is a major accomplishment that any game developer would be proud to hold. The year-end statistics are in so who was the official winner for 2013?
Of course, this honor has gone to Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V and many of you could have probably guessed due all the media attention it received immediately after its successful launch. Having been responsible for over $1 billion dollars in sales its first day on the market and receiving an overall rating of 97 out of 100 on Metacritic, this type of honor is more than fitting for a video game of this caliber.
For those of you who were wondering, GTA V has sold more than 32.5 million units which equals roughly $1,950,000,000 in total sales to date. I'd bet that Rockstar is already working on GTA VI with the hope of bringing their advanced open world gameplay to next-gen consoles in the coming years.
