It is no secret that gamers have a deep love for classic titles that they grew up playing. A new trend has emerged in the gaming world with older titles like Halo 2 being revamped for next generation consoles to offer the same gameplay that we grew to love with updated graphics, textures, and features.
A few days ago, word broke that the original Gears of War would be the next on the list to remaster with a collaboration between Microsoft and the original developer Black Tusk. Kotaku is reporting this speculation as confirmed since sources have come forward that have played a private test build of the new version for the Xbox One.
According to these sources, the remake is strictly on the first Gears of War, which differs from the recent remake of Halo: Master Chief Collection. This version runs at 60fps with updated graphics for the Xbox One, and the test build is confirmed to be multiplayer-only (though the final will likely offer more) with the following game modes:
- Team Deathmatch
- King of the Holl
- 1 Life 1v1 Shotgun TDM
- 1v1 Sudden Death Gnashers Only
- 4v4 TDM Single Round
- 4v4 KOTH Single Round
