At Apple's recent keynote event, the company announced their newest MacBook Pro models alongside tvOS 10.1, a major update coming to Apple TV. While the event concluded with no concrete release date, the company rolled out new firmware updates iOS and tvOS as of this morning.

tvOS 10.1

  • New ‘TV' app gives you a single interface to view and access streamable content (most streaming services besides Netflix) and┬áseamlessly pick up where you left off
  • Improved support for Siri voice comments and recommendations
  • Single sign-on allows you to verify your cable subscription once and authenticate for multiple streaming apps
  • Various bug fixes and performance tweaks

iOS 10.2

  • New ‘TV' companion app gives you a single interface to view and access streamable content (most streaming services besides Netflix and seamlessly pick up where you left off
  • New emojis including new hand gestures, animals, facial expressions, food and professional-related emojis now portrayable as a female (aka firefighter, farmer, pilot judge, etc.)
  • Improved music controls
  • Changes to stabilization and frame rates for Live Photos
  • Dedicated News app section for saved content & notifications
  • Updated Bluetooth performance
  • Various bug fixes and performance tweaks

Owners of supported iPhone, iPad or Apple TV products can now download the newest firmware updates via the ‘Settings' section on their device.
