As of yesterday there is a new featured added to the Facebook mobile app for iOS. This feature allows for free VOIP calling to other iOS users who also have the latest update of the Facebook app themselves. It is said the feature works on both Wi-Fi and your cellular data connection. In order to see if your friends are up to date and able to be called is a bit of a pain since you have to search their profiles individual and tap the “i” icon on the top right while viewing a conversation with the person. Pretty inconvenient for the time being, but an impressive feature that will be upgraded and perfected in the future I'm sure.

With Facebook dropping a huge VOIP feature for free like this as well as the introduction of their “Graph Search“, it is a pretty big week for the social media giant. It seems as though they are plotting to take over every online industry they can. Hey, if they do a good job and their new features are free….it's fine by me!
