Blizzard's first attempt at a competitive first person shooter has been overwhelmingly successful for the company, and their focus now has been on balancing the existing characters along with adding new content to the game in the form of characters, maps and unlockable content (skins, voice lines, sprays, player icons and more).
In March of this year, the company unveiled Orisa who became the 24th playable hero in the Overwatch universe filling in the role of a tank. Since then, there has been a lot of speculation in the Overwatch community as to what the next hero release would be while many hoped that it would indeed be Doomfist.
Earlier this morning, Blizzard formally announced Doomfist's arrival to Overwatch with an official lore trailer, development overview, and addition of the character to the Public Test Realm.
I think many anticipated Doomfist to be a tank, but he is actually an offensive hero who has both ranged and melee attacks.
For a more in-depth of Doomfist and his abilities check out the videos below, I've also embedded the lore video for any interested in his backstory.
