Magic Lantern is one of the most highly regarded pieces of software in the world of DSLR filmmaking which is surprising as the software is free to all. The newest update of this camera firmware coupled with a Canon 7D has the capabilities of shooting small bursts of RAW video as seen in the embedded video below. The footage is impressive with a full 14-bit color spectrum and is free from compression noise, but lacks the maximum resolution that the new Canon 5D Mark III is capable of when shooting in full HD (1,736 x 1,156).
