BlackBerry has officially announced that their BlackBerry World (BlackBerry's version of the App Store) has not officially passed over 100,000 different applications. Some high-profile apps that have hit the store include OpenTable, The Wall Street Journal, and the Amazon Kindle app. BlackBerry also expects the eBay, Skype, and Viber apps to be launched in the near future so keep an eye out. This is a promising sign for the struggling smartphone company though it truly is too early to tell what the future may bring.

The real question is will a milestone like this be enough to push potential consumers to go with the BlackBerry Z10? That seems to be a serious long shot as none of these ‘high-profile' apps are exclusive to the BlackBerry and you can already find all of them plus lots more in the competing Apple App Store and Google Play store. We will just have to wait and see where the future of the BlackBerry brand stands once the Z10 is officially launches on U.S. carriers.
