Pros:
1- It's ergonomic, it's left handed, and great compared to the ambidextrous designs.
2- I don't do MMOs, online FPSs, or other fast paced quick reaction time games, so I can't comment on speed but I've had zero problems using the mouse or with it's response time.
3-Two buttons on the side for some degree of customization.
4- Haven't had anything break or problems with the LEDs or mouse wheel. Seems durable to me. Just don't smash it on the desk, that's why I'm on my second one.
Cons:
1- The oil from your hands builds up quickly on this and I clean it at least twice a week. Make sure you only use water. I tried using a cleaning wipe on my old one and I think it stripped the finish off.
2- Out of the box it comes with the mouse buttons switched, so left click is right and right click is left. You need the software to fix it and if for some reason you can't load the software...it won't remember your settings. I've since turned off automatic updating ever since they had an incident and my mouse was stuck reversed.
3- Only blue lighting options, oh, and the logo pulsates slowly. Kind of clashes with my red LED only keyboard but oh well, doesn't bother me.
4- No wireless option.
The mouse feels nice in my hand. The DPI settings are nice. The fact that I can change profiles by hitting a button on the bottom of the mouse is awesome. Overall I really like the mouse. It's left handed (I play left handed thanks to left handed parents, even though I'm right handed) And I was over-joyed when I found out Razer made a left handed mice. In a world dominated by right handed people, it's hard to find a comfortable mouse thats for right handed people but feels good in the left hand. That being said theres one problem. Most left handed mouse users...don't normal click with the right and alt click with the left. They click the same way righty's do. left click = Normal click, right click = alt click. So it was annoying to find out it was defaultly set to the opposite. Despite changing it, and it being okay in windows, in games it still registers the opposite and I don't know how to change that. Battlefield 2 won't stop despite the fact that I tell it to invert mouse settings. Battlefield 3 is the only game that when I tell it not to use 'Raw mouse data' that it actually pays attention to Windows mouse settings. It's annoying and I don't like it. And the Razer Synapse program doesn't help. It just goes 'Oh its a left handed mouse..use it this way...stupid.."
For those reasons I give it a 4 out of 5. If I could figure out how to change it so every game just automatically detects the normal click style, I'd give it a 5 out of 5.
Pros:
Specifically made for lefties (duh)
It's precise, sensitive, and fast.
The cord is braided, and is a lot tougher than most mouse cords. This might be important if you want to lug it around with a laptop.
It looks great.
Clicking is quiet (audible but not obnoxious) and comfortable.
The Mouse 4 and Mouse 5 buttons on the right side are really convenient for games or just web browsing; these buttons are missing from most ambidextrous mice.
Cons:
Other people have said this too, but the primary and secondary mouse buttons are switched by default. I haven't had that much of a problem with it though, because it's pretty easy to switch the buttons back by changing mouse settings. For the average lefty who's been trained for right-handed mouse buttons, this is only a problem for about two minutes.
The surface of the mouse is a matte rubberized plastic material. It will grab onto any moisture or oil on your hand, and could be annoying to a neat-freak, but it's quite easy to clean off.
The mouse is rather large, but I have large hands, and it is extremely comfortable. But for someone with smaller hands, I doubt it would be uncomfortable. Contrary to what another reviewer said, this mouse feels pretty light to me.
All in all a great mouse. When I have the money, I want to buy a spare just in case these are discontinued!
Top reviews from other countries
I've been using it for gaming for 3 years straight and it still runs rock-solif. Great mouse.
The customizeable software may be configured easily for different game profiles and switched easily.
Add to that, that each time I open the software (the correct software? still unsure as the info is so complex), it presents a photo of a right-hand mouse, when I have clicked on the left-hand link to switch the image, saved a profile, the mouse is plugged in, and, err, the software could ASK the mouse if it was right or left hand.. EXASPERATING.
The production of the physical mouse is very good, clearly a very high quality product. I am disappointed that unlike a cheap Logitech I have, I am stuck (it seems) with a quit 'clicky' resistive turn on the wheel, I would prefer the option for it to be smooth, or just smooth.
For all I know the docs tell me how to change that, I just can't break in to the impenetrable screen of confusion that is the web and s/w i/fs and os have given up looking. I wonder if the IS a way to have the Synapse app actually remember I have a left-hand mouse when I open it...
The feel of it is great, the buttons well positioned and it is as precise as you'll ever want. The only issue i had was that after a year on my first mouse, the left button started to deteriorate and began to register more than once click whenever I clicked it. However, Razer are excellent as a company and they provided me with a new one with no hassle after sending the damaged one back. Since then, I have had no problems with the second mouse.
It may be a bit pricey but is well worth it for both comfort and ease of use. If you've never owned a left-handed mouse before and you play games often, this is your mouse.
