Sony's PXW-FS5 has been a hit with filmmakers due to its affordable pricing, small form-factor, and competitive features especially when coupled with the RAW license along with a compatible external recorder.
Up until recently, Sony has been selling the FS5 has been selling for $5,749 as a standalone body. With intense competition coming from Canon's C200 and Panasonic's EVA1 cameras which are both priced in the same ballpark, a steep $1,000 rebate is now available for any prospective FS5 customers.
While this rebate is not instant and requires a mail-in process, getting $1K back on such a large purchase can go a long way like funding a quality lens, external recorder, microphone or lighting equipment.
The good thing about this offer is that it is being offered through several reputable online retailers including B&H Photo & Adorama. A benefit of shopping at B&H or Adorama is they do not charge sales tax unless you live in NY. B&H is currently offering a free Metabones Mark IV EF-to-E-Mount Smart Adapter (valued at $399) also as a rebate whereas Adorama is including a free BPU60 rechargeable battery (valued at $265).
