LifeProof is widely known for their ultra-rugged cases for the iPhone and iPad, but as of today they have been bought by their biggest competitor. LifeProof sent out a press release at 3PM stating that OtterBox has acquired their company effective immediately. Otterbox has been their biggest competition over the past few years in a niche market of premium cases for iOS devices and now they are officially a part of the OtterBox family. It seems that the two brands will stay separate and LifeProof will remain based out of San Diego as they were prior to their acquisition.
